Hi,

Video 1: Beograd - Bioce, July 4 - 7

Link:

Start of a great week long trip to Crna Gora and Dalmatia.

Arriving at Belgrade by D 341 from Vienna, watching express trains at Belgrade (sometimes I cranked up the speed a little, otherwise you could fall asleep :?: ), including one of the last grey 461s and coaches from at least 10 different countries. For the spectacular trip Beograd - Podgorica please see one of my first YouTube videos: "The Beograd - Bar Line",

Link:

Bioce is located between Podgorica and Mala Rijeka bridge at the mountainside of Mala Rijeka valley, on the other side of which the line can be seen again. Night trains and daytime express trains coming up and down the line, including one freight and a class 461 double.

Video 2: Lake Skadar - Sutomore - Zagreb, July 6 - 8

Link:

Morning at Lake Skadar, which is being traversed by a dam, but even a better spot proved to be the picturesque fishing village of Vranjina - if it wasn't for the road it would be perfect!

In the afternoon we moved on to the extremely tourist town of Sutomore - the scenery definitely is great, but it reminded me why I prefer a lonely fisherman's hut on Kornat for seaside holiday.

We took D 434 overnight to Belgrade and went on the much less than spectacular ride on D 414 to Zagreb, in Serbia it is additionally extremely slow going. At Zagreb we had heavy thunderstrom shower and sunset moods before we went on to our beloved GMs around Split by D 1823.

Video 3: GM Diesel around Split 1, July 8 - 10

Link:

Morning at Primorski Dolac with sadly a little video mishap (don't worry, the scene will be delivered in HD!), later we moved on to the Split side. In the afternoon we caught the new twice weekly "Adria" to Budapest at a classic spot in Kastel Stari.

Also new is the earlier departure of D 1822 from Split, almost at sunset. Early next morning we went uphill to visit another favourite, Sadine, near Split airport.

Video 4: GM Diesel around Split 2, July 9

Link:

More trains at Sadine and on the other side of the mountain at Preslo, including three uphill freights, two of which with 2062-038 in green livery as leading loco.

Video 5: GM Diesel around Split 3, July 9-10

Link:

Evening at Kastel Sucurac near Split including first night train to Zagreb, spectacular meeting with D 824 on the way to Split, night train parade at Perkovic the next morning.

Video 6: Lika Line ICN Cabride

Link:

Thanks to a very nice driver and user of this site :D , an invited cabride on some of the most scenic sections of the Lika railroad and further into Zagreb where the weather wasn't as nice as on the coast.

And a few preview photos:

IC 344 "Avala" Beograd - Budapest with through coaches to Moscow and Kiev next to a Hungarian built shunter class 641 at Belgrade station. Last year they still used a more modern Czech class 704 diesel... July 4

One photo, 4 years in the making: During the trip I could take a wideangle shot of the panorama from train D 433 at the spectacular station of Lutovo, Montenegro, the freight train dates from August 2005. July 4

kpnj0902.jpg

Morning in the mountains at Bioce, local 6101, definitely one of the cleanest rakes of the day, Bijelo Polje - Podgorica - Bar is winding down the mountain, while on the other side you can spot the line again with a night train on it. Inbetween gurgling in the gorge lies Mala Rijeka river and the famous giant bridge of same name. July 5

Again Lutovo, but now standing on the ground and shooting D 433 Beograd - Bar in fitting mountain weather conditions. July 5

Well done Roni! :loko

Now I have a problem, what is better, pictures or videos?

After short thinking, I must say videos are better (because of this magnificant sound that GM locos produce).
